Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

The short version. You can play Unlike without creating an account. Progress saves on your device and, when available, completed progress syncs through iCloud. Versions through 1.08 do not run Firebase Analytics; version 1.09 adds analytics only with the privacy permission described below. Optional feedback is sent only after you review and send an email. Apple handles purchases, and the free version uses an advertising network as described below.

Game progress and iCloud

Your level progress, stars, best times, unlocked and purchased themes, chosen theme, and settings are written inside the app’s own storage on your iPhone or iPad. An unfinished board stays on that device. Deleting the app removes its local data.

When iCloud sync is available, completed level progress, stars, best times and earned themes sync through Apple’s iCloud service for the account on your device. This requires no Unlike account or developer-operated account database. We do not receive your Apple Account details. Settings shows the current sync status. Only progress that reached iCloud is recoverable through sync.

The app also stores local preferences such as whether you have already seen a feedback invitation, so it does not repeatedly ask.

This website

The daily puzzle on playunlike.com runs entirely in your browser. To keep your place if you reload, it saves today’s board, your time, and whether you have seen the instructions in your browser’s local storage. That data stays on your device and is replaced the next day. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and shows no ads.

Like any website, the site is delivered by a hosting provider (Vercel), which processes standard request data such as your IP address to serve pages. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the same kind of request data.

Feedback and support

Feedback is optional. If you choose to email feedback or contact support, the developer receives your email address and the message you send. The app’s feedback draft includes your selected topic, optional note, app version and level when available. You can review and edit the email before sending it. No message is sent automatically, and feedback is not published as an App Store review. If you copy feedback instead, it goes to your clipboard for you to use.

Support messages are used to respond to your request and improve Unlike. Do not include passwords, payment information or other sensitive details.

Game Center

Unlike supports optional achievements through Apple’s Game Center. When you use Game Center and are authenticated, the app sends achievement progress to Apple, associated with your Game Center player account. It also stores the achievement progress already reported for your Game Center player identifier locally on your device to avoid sending duplicate updates. This information is not sent to a developer-operated server.

Apple manages Game Center accounts and the visibility of your gaming activity according to your Game Center settings. You can play Unlike without using Game Center. See Apple’s Game Center privacy information for details.

Purchases

Unlike offers optional one-time purchases: removing ads, and buying individual themes or the theme bundle. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store. We never receive or store your payment card, billing address, or Apple Account details. The app uses Apple’s verified purchase information to unlock and restore what you bought. Apple also sends purchase and refund notifications to a developer-operated service. That service retains transaction identifiers, product identifiers, purchase dates, prices, currencies and transaction status to maintain purchase records, measure sales and help investigate purchase issues. These records do not include your payment card or Apple Account details and are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Advertising

The free version of Unlike may show full-screen advertisements after completed puzzles. You can also choose to watch a rewarded advertisement during a puzzle to receive one extra hint. Rewarded ads are optional; automatic ads do not interrupt a puzzle. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect a device advertising identifier and basic technical information about your device in order to select and measure ads.

Unity Ads — version 1.10 and later

Unity Ads in version 1.10. Version 1.10 introduced Unity Ads as an additional advertising source through AdMob. It is not included in versions through 1.09. In versions that include it, Unity may process device and SDK identifiers, IP address and approximate location, device and network characteristics, ad interactions and technical performance information to deliver, measure and protect advertising. Unity also discloses SDK user identifiers, purchase history or purchase tendencies, other usage information, and device information such as language, model, screen size and connection type. These disclosures include information the SDK may generate or process; the mediation integration does not explicitly send Unity a custom account ID or purchase history. Separate campaign measurement, if enabled, is described below. Optional reports submitted through an ad's privacy or reporting controls are handled by Unity. Our initial integration opts out of Unity targeted advertising; Apple's tracking choice alone does not grant Unity consent. When your Remove Ads purchase is recognized before advertising startup, the app does not start this advertising integration. Learn about Unity's processing and privacy requests in Unity's privacy policy. Publishing this notice does not activate Unity ads in an installed app.

Liftoff Monetize — version 1.10 and later

Version 1.10 also introduced Liftoff Monetize (Vungle) as an additional advertising source through AdMob. It is not included in versions through 1.09. In versions that include it, Liftoff may process device identifiers, IP address and approximate location, advertising interactions, tracking authorization status, and device and performance information for advertising and analytics. Our initial integration explicitly opts out of Liftoff personalized advertising and sale or sharing of personal information; Apple's tracking choice alone does not grant those permissions. When your Remove Ads purchase is recognized before advertising startup, the app does not start this advertising integration. See Liftoff's privacy policy for its processing and privacy choices. Publishing this notice does not activate Liftoff ads in an installed app.

Optional notifications — version 1.12 and later

You can choose daily puzzle reminders, reminders after a break, and news about Unlike updates, themes and promotions. Each category can be turned off separately in the app's Settings. Daily and return reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

If you enable news and allow notifications in iOS, Unlike uses Apple's Push Notification service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver news. These services process push tokens and installation identifiers, together with technical information such as device model, language, time zone, operating system, app identifier and version, and connection information. Your selected app language determines which news topic your installation subscribes to. Firebase also processes SDK usage and diagnostic information to operate and improve its services. The app does not include your saved puzzle boards in news registration or notification messages.

Turning news off stops the app's remote-notification registration and requests removal of news subscriptions and deletion of its Firebase messaging token. Failed network cleanup is retried when the app is active and can connect. If you revoke notification permission in iOS, the app reconciles that change when it next becomes active. Turning off news does not turn off your separately selected local reminder categories.

Deleting a messaging token does not delete the Firebase installation ID or all information already processed by Apple or Google. Firebase says installation IDs are retained until deletion is requested through its installation-deletion API; after that request, removal from live and backup systems can take up to 180 days. Unlike's news-off switch does not invoke that installation-deletion API. Contact us using the details below for privacy or deletion requests.

News permission is separate from the app's analytics and advertising permissions. Enabling news does not grant those permissions. Google may process this information outside your country. See Firebase's privacy information and Apple's privacy policy for their processing practices.

App analytics — version 1.09 and later

Versions through 1.08 do not include Firebase Analytics. The following describes the analytics feature introduced in version 1.09; publishing this policy does not enable analytics in an older version.

Version 1.09 adds Google Analytics for Firebase to help us understand app usage, engagement and monetization. Collection is disabled by default and is enabled only when the app confirms an explicit analytics permission through its privacy-consent flow. If that permission is unavailable or declined, analytics stays off. We use the existing privacy choices rather than a separate Firebase permission popup. Apple’s tracking permission is a separate choice and is not treated as permission for analytics.

When enabled, Firebase may process app opens and sessions, app and device technical details, approximate location derived from network information, an app-instance identifier, and eligible purchase and advertising events. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not anonymous. We do not send your name, email address, Apple Account, saved puzzle boards or a custom user ID to Firebase Analytics. We configure this integration without advertising-ID or vendor-ID collection and disable use of Analytics data for advertising personalization.

You can revisit analytics permission through the app’s Privacy choices where available. Buying Remove Ads also stops this app’s Analytics collection. Withdrawing permission stops future collection; it does not automatically erase information already processed. Google processes Analytics data on its infrastructure, which may be outside your country, under its privacy policy. Contact us below with privacy or deletion requests. Without identifying information, we may be unable to associate an analytics record with you.

Advertising measurement — version 1.11 and later

Version 1.11 introduced Tenjin to measure whether ads for Unlike lead to installs and revenue. Publishing this notice does not add Tenjin to an already installed version. In versions that include it, collection starts only after the existing privacy flow explicitly permits advertising storage, advertising data use, personalization and analytics, Apple’s tracking permission is authorized, and the consent record explicitly includes Tenjin as an approved provider. General Google permission or disclosure of Tenjin alone is not sufficient. Missing or declined permission keeps this integration off. The app does not add another permission prompt.

When enabled, Tenjin receives app-open information, device and advertising identifiers, network and device information, verified purchase details and signed transaction receipts, and advertising impression revenue. We use this information to measure campaigns and may configure Tenjin to send installation and revenue callbacks to Unity Ads. We do not send your name, email, Apple Account, saved puzzle boards or a custom user ID. Existing purchases restored at launch are not reported as new purchases. See Tenjin’s privacy policy.

Privacy choices and Apple’s tracking settings control future collection. Buying Remove Ads stops future Tenjin SDK collection; the purchase itself may be reported if permission was active when it completed. Withdrawal does not automatically erase data already processed. Apple may separately provide privacy-preserving advertising attribution reports to Tenjin through SKAdNetwork. Contact us below for privacy or deletion requests.

What we do not do

Children

Unlike is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information as a condition of playing. Unlike has no in-app public chat or public user-generated content. Optional Game Center achievements are handled by Apple as described above. Optional email feedback is handled as described above; please avoid including personal details beyond what is needed for a support request.

Your rights

To reset levels and earned progress, use Settings → Reset game progress. When iCloud sync is active, that reset syncs to your other devices. Preferences and purchases are preserved. Deleting the app removes its local data; purchases remain with Apple. If you have sent a support message and want to request its deletion, contact the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is collected, the date at the top will change and the updated policy will be posted here before the change takes effect.
